Erica + Matt | Breckenridge Anniversary Photos | Colorado Engagement Photographer

Hey, hey friends! I hope you had a great weekend. Up on the blog first this week, Erica & Matt’s Breckenridge anniversary photos. These two were visiting from Florida to celebrate a wonderful first year of marriage. While spring weather (and jeez, even summer this past year) is unpredictable in the high country, this particular weekend was quite cold. Erica and Matt were troopers, and Sapphire Point and Windy Point Campground always photograph beautifully!

Erica and Matt started with a casual look for the first half of the session. Erica’s hair looked absolutely adorable! Don’t you think?! I also loved her green buffalo check vest. The green ballet flats were a sweet touch too. Windy Point Campground is a five minute drive down the road. I love hitting both of these locations during the same shoot. They are both beautiful, and super close together. They are, however, different enough to give your photos some great variety 🙂 Erica got a little dressier for her second look…equally adorable though! It was a bit chilly, no doubt. But this was sure a fun, smooth, and enjoyable session in the mountains of Summit County.

If you are going to visit Sapphire Point, it’s about 90% certain you are going to see some chipmunks. Sometimes they will even join in on the photo shoot! This little guy definitely thought Erica was going to feed him lol 😉

Quick wardrobe change, and then off to Windy Point Campground for more photos! The clouds were so beautifully dramatic 🙂 And I love the open field vibes you get from this spot!

If you follow my blog, you probably know that I shoot at Sapphire Point a ton. It’s a really great spot…espcially for out-of-towners, since there is not any strenuous hiking involved. Sapphire Point Overlook sits between Keystone and Breckenridge on Swan Mountain Road, at an elevation of 9,500 feet. The overlook offers a stunning view of Dillon Reservoir, hemmed in by the Gore and Tenmile mountain ranges.

In the heart of the Rocky Mountains, this overlook is part of the 2.3 million acre White River National Forest. Recognized as a place of serenity and adventure, the area boasts eight wilderness areas, four defined seasons and ten peaks surpassing 14,000 feet in elevation.

Wildlife in the area abounds. Bighorn sheep navigate rocky ridges and bull elk bugle at dusk. Scenic rivers sustain populations of cutthroat, rainbow and brown trout. Alpine regions provide habitat for pika and ptarmigan. These species, along with many others, depend on surrounding undeveloped wilderness, clean streams and diverse forests to live. –USDA Forest Service
