Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope you are celebrating with that special someone <3 Today I am bringing you part two of Katrina and Brian’s Colorado elopement photos. How amazing was Wheeler Geologic Area from part 1? Click here now, if you missed it! During our adventure elopement weekend we also visited South Clear Creek Falls. Not to be confused with the much more well-known North Clear Creek Falls in the same area. I decided to visit the South Falls because everything I was reading indicated that you could get right next to the falls. Although the North Falls appear more massive, and perhaps much more impressive. That wouldn’t do us any good, however, if we could only photograph it from in front of a fenced off area (super far away)! I think I made the right call.
We were literally the only ones there. There was just a super short hike, albeit a little steep, to get to the base of the falls. It was still pretty impressive in my opinion! Since we don’t have many waterfalls in my neck of the woods, this was a fun experience. Although, a lot of yelling was involved 😉 You forget how loud water can be. They couldn’t hear me…I couldn’t hear them…but we still managed to create some magical Colorado elopement photos!
After, we set up all of the details for the reception for two. It was so much fun seeing my vision come to life! Again, I am so thankful to the other vendors that provided me with many details to make my session that much more beautiful. Just as we got everything all set up outside of our Creede cabin, the rain came. We had to rush and bring everything back inside, or on the deck. In true Colorado fashion, 10 minutes later it was clear (and bright!), so we went back out and rushed to set things up again before another (possible) storm came.
Grrr… I am mad at myself for not switching these chairs around. Since the proper way to read it would be left to right “one and only”. I also forgot to put out the “cootie catcher” menus I showed above. Oh well, these were very minor things in the grand scheme of this shoot!
A little “morning after” couple’s photo shoot over coffee, before making the very long drive back to Firestone for us…and Laramie for Katrina and Brian!
I can’t thank you enough again, Katrina and Brian, for your involvement in these Colorado elopement photos! As well as my hubby for driving his 1985 Jeep CJ-7 over 600 miles for this crazy idea! I know we are both so relieved the old girl made it there and back safely 🙂 The other wonderful vendors are listed below. This shoot would not have been the same with out their involvement.
I would love to plan another styled elopement shoot this year too. It was really fun and a rewarding experience! Not sure if it will equate to a publication or more elopement bookings. But that’s ok, it was really more for me. Some beautiful portfolio images and a way to feed my creative soul <3
