Not starting the month out very well here on the blog. This is only my fourth blog post of the month, and we are almost halfway through. Been so busy with editing and projects around the house. As well as lack of motivation to be honest LOL! Anyway, today I bring you the lovely Kennedi and her husband Garrison. We met up at Point Park for their Grand Lake maternity photos. These two were coming from out-of-state for a “baby moon” to have some rest and relaxation before the arrival of their first baby. They hadn’t booked their lodging when they first booked their session, so they kind of left things up to me. They wanted our beautiful mountains in the photos, but they were pretty open aside from that. Around the time of their session I was going to be up in Grand County at my sister’s cabin. So I did suggest an area up there. We settled on Point Park and the dock near downtown Grand Lake.
It was such a joy working with these two! You could tell how excited they were for their little bundle of joy to arrive soon 🙂 Besides some crazy wind when we started the session at Point Park, their session was pretty picture perfect. And holy cow…talk about variety! We got a ton of great stuff. Kennedi started out in a cute teal dress, and Garrison in jeans, a white tee, and cream colored jacket. We captured photos on the wooden dock, with the lake and mountain views. I was absolutely delighted to stumble upon a field of purple wildflowers! I have only been to Point Park once before, for Ken and Deanna’s wedding. That was during fall though, so definitely no wildflowers. We were extremely careful to not step on and crush any of these beauties, but we just had to get some gorgeous shots amongst these amazing flowers. Kennedi added in a cute beige hat during some of the wildflower photos. I thought it was a really great choice…your girl loves accessories!
This is definitely one of my favorites from these Grand Lake maternity photos. Such an adorable couple, great outfits, and those flowers!!
Next, we headed to downtown Grand Lake and walked out to the dock. Kennedi switched into a form-fitting, mermaid style olive green maternity gown. She looked great! This was a unique color for a maternity dress, but it’s a color I really like. Neutral, but definitely not boring! The sun was intense next to the water, but we embraced all of it’s golden goodness and got some really great golden hour shots here. Kennedi had one more outfit, and we decided not to duplicate locations. So, while it wasn’t part of the original plan, I suggested we head over to Lake Granby. They were staying in Winter Park, and I was heading back that same direction anyway. We were still dealing with some wind, and a possible rainstorm on the way. We got a few more photos in the olive green dress, before she changed outfits again.
Kennedi was a little bit nervous about the third outfit, but she went for it and looked stunning! She really wanted to show off and embrace her beautiful, changing “mom bod”. I was honestly proud of her, it can be tough for so many women to accept the changes that motherhood brings. This has got to be one of the most unique maternity outfits I have ever photographed, but I truly loved it. She wore a black, long-sleeve bodysuit and a black felt hat. We used up pretty much every ounce of daylight. We got many more great shots with mountain lake views and the vibrant sunset and alpenglow colors painted the sky. What a great session! I hope there are more Grand Lake sessions in my future.
Congrats again Kennedi and Garrison! I hope parenthood is going wonderfully for you guys. Hopefully I can have your beautiful faces in front of my camera again someday. This was a wonderful and memorable session. I hope you will cherish these photos for many years to come. On the blog next, Faith and Fred’s sunrise wedding at Barr Lake State Park. Have a great day friends!
